Theme: Balancing Prosperity and Heritage: Indigenous Lands, Big Corporations, and Sustainable Futures

The EELL 2025 Conference brought together policymakers, educators, researchers, traditional leaders, community activists, and corporate representatives from across Africa and beyond for two days of impactful dialogue and collaboration.

Day 1 opened with keynote addresses from leading voices in climate policy, education, and indigenous governance, setting a bold tone for the event. Discussions centered on pressing environmental challenges, notably the menace of illegal small-scale mining (galamsey), and explored solutions rooted in education, policy reform, and sustainable business practices. Panel sessions and breakout discussions allowed participants to share local innovations, research findings, and best practices.

Day 2 maintained the momentum with interactive workshops, case study presentations, and strategic networking sessions. Key topics included climate resilience, integrating environmental education into national curricula, corporate environmental accountability, and indigenous knowledge as a tool for sustainable resource management. The day concluded with a forward-looking plenary session, where stakeholders committed to concrete collaborative actions and policy recommendations to address Africa’s environmental challenges.

The conference succeeded in fostering a space for knowledge exchange, building cross-sector partnerships, and inspiring actionable change towards a more sustainable and equitable future for the continent.
