Declaration
We, the delegates and participants of the 2nd Global Conference on Environmental Education
and Lifelong Learning, Ontario, Canada from October 16 – 17, hosted by the Pan-African Centre
for Climate Policy (PACCPOLICY), stand united in our shared vision for a sustainable future. In recognition of the vital contributions of Indigenous Knowledge and approaches to climate resilience, we collectively affirm our commitment to integrating these perspectives into our efforts for
environmental education and climate action. Together, let us declare our intentions and commit-
ments, as outlined in the EELL24 Declaration.
1
Climate Justice through Education:
We firmly believe that education is a powerful tool for achieving climate justice. It provides the
knowledge and skills necessary for individuals and communities to understand their rights, responsibilities, and the impacts of climate change. Through education, we can empower future
generations to advocate for sustainable practices and equitable policies that honor Indigenous
perspectives and contributions.
2
Awareness of Decision-Making Dynamics:
It is essential to critically examine who is influencing environmental decision-making processes and to reflect upon who bears the consequences of such decisions. We recognize that marginalized communities, often including Indigenous peoples, disproportionately experience the effects of climate change. Therefore, inclusive decision-making that values diverse perspectives is crucial for effective climate action.

In conclusion, we commit to fostering a future where Indigenous Knowledge and practices are
